As the Head of the High School English Department, I had the privilege of working closely with Dr. Miller as a curriculum coordinator. Although Dr. Miller’s specialty is science, his structured program and expertise and dedication to curriculum design have been invaluable in strengthening our English curriculum across all grade levels. Prior to Dr. Miller’s intervention, we knew that there were elements of our curriculum that didn’t align between grade levels, but it had been difficult for us to figure out where to begin the process and how to organize ourselves. We reached out to Dr. Miller to explain our area of need. After a consultation, he provided us with templates for us to fill in with essential skills and topics for English Language and Literature before our next meeting. Once we had taken our time to fill in this template, Dr. Miller met with us to guide us through the process of analyzing these skills to identify where the gaps in our curriculum were. Dr. Miller provided our department with essential resources to track student skill development from Primary through Middle and High School, ensuring a clear and comprehensive view of student progress. Through his guidance and detailed materials, we were able to identify several gaps in our curriculum, vertically align key skills, and implement meaningful improvements. He led us through this process with clarity and precision, fostering collaboration among teachers and department heads. His ability to break down complex curriculum challenges and provide practical solutions made a significant impact. The whole process was structured, professional, and productive.
